• The Hujiang Economics and Management Forum Series (100th Session) was Successfully Held

    Updated:2024-04-24

On April 24th, the 100th edition of The Hujiang Economics and Management Forum Series was held at the Lecture Hall on the fourth floor of Building A of the Business School. Associate Professor Wang Jiawen from the Department of Transportation System Engineering delivered an academic report titled Data-Driven Optimization of Urban Road Traffic Systems.

    Scene of the Academic Report

Starting from the complexity of current urban road traffic system management and control, the report first clarified the relationship between data, strategies, and algorithms in data-driven traffic management and control systems. Furthermore, it reviewed the development trends and existing problems of traffic data and control strategies, introduced the basic methods of data-driven urban road traffic control, and elaborated on data-driven traffic control approaches from various aspects such as reliability analysis, spatio-temporal collaborative control of nodes, macro boundary control, route guidance, and macro-and micro-modeling simulations.

The report also delved into the engineering practice pathways of the aforementioned methods, achieving data-driven governance throughout the entire lifecycle of urban traffic. The resulting achievements have supported the construction of traffic organization and signal control optimization systems in over 60 cities including Shanghai, Zhejiang, Shandong, Sichuan, and Hebei, yielding significant social and economic benefits. Wang Jiawen shared his invaluable experiences and insights from the engineering practice of urban road traffic system optimization, providing attendees with a deeper understanding of the integrated development of scientific research and engineering practice.

Finally, Associate Professor Li Wenxiang from the Department of Transportation System Engineering commented on the lecture. Participants and students had in-depth exchanges and discussions on data-driven traffic state prediction and the engineering transformation of scientific research achievements, providing quality academic exchange opportunities for teachers and students of the Business School.
